Poems of Mac McAnear
It's our Friends who are Missing

We met from time to time
Laughed and embraced
Talked about the kids and ailments
How lifeís so fast-paced.

Never dreamed that one day
Thereíd be an abrupt end
We  still meet, the rest of us,
But futile to wait for our friends.

They wonít be coming any more
Went down at sea out of sight
Suddenly, without any warning at all
Happened in the middle of the night.

We didnít get to say good-bye
No frantic hugging and kissing
The rest of the world surely heard the news
But itís our friends who are missing!
