Frank McNie's Poems
The Thistle

A flower, are ye of yer heed,
itís naw but a muckle weed
even a coo kens never tae bide
anywhar near a thistle tribe

Sometimes attitude as if on a bevy
then proud and tall for Royal Levy
places theyíve never been afore
let them in and they tak oer

Itís prickly-proud so they say
stubborn, in that Scottish way.
when weathers wild and ithers hide
itís still braw, a great thing of pride

Itís bonnie, but no too fancy
like oorselves a wee bit sonsie
