Bader, Douglas (Sir)


A British air ace who, despite the handicap of flying with two artificial legs, was credited with downing 24 Nazi planes from 1940 to 1941. He was shot down and captured, yet despite his handicap, escaped from the Germans in France. His mother was Jessie McKenzie.
