Donna's Poems
Coyote

Tonight I listened to your lonely wail,
Cried into the blackness yaps and yips prevail.

The old folks said you watched your people relatives,
Probably,  just to see "what gives."

Wise old man that you are,
Is it true you see far?

Then perchance you were slightly amused,
While we,  these people are confused.

There you rest on a higher ground,
Studying our actions as we are bound,

To silly moods, motives, mysteries and more.
While at our camp we can only abhor,

These our chains bound to the imperfect,
Knowing full well we cannot select,

A different lot of one that frees
>From bondage tied to us for centuries.

Would we laugh and yap at the moon,
Should we watch from afar our own tune?

A far off cry of another speaks yapping reply,
"Maybe you should try!"
