Donna's Poems
Inevitable, Incredible, Fall-2004

A flurry of dry, brown leaves swirl round my feet
There's a touch, a wave of cool in morning to greet
Four or five leaves on a maple tree tell a story
Of fall's approaching glory
I hold my hand up like a traffic cop
Waiting for sweet gum balls to drop
If I keep waiting for the inevitable
I'm soon gifted with colors incredible
