Donna's Poems
Daddy's Face
Kay Bojorquez

Holding me tight a small sensitive child in his arms
Winning me over with all of his "Daddy" charms

Lifting me up with a gentle sweeping grace
Even so small I could see the love in my Daddy’s face

He presented me with the manner of patience
Quietly teaching by example, ruling this temperance

To my quest he devoted his whole heart, not just a trace
As I grew I could see the love in my Daddy’s face

Rescuing me from all of the monsters in my life
Helping to overcome the fear the sorrow and the strife

No matter when or how or what the place
As I stop and look I see the love in my Daddy’s face

Always accepting of all of the battles
Long-suffering for less he never settles

Touching your heart with the warmest embrace
As I slowly get to my feet I see the love in my Daddy’s face

Evermore strong and foremost whenever you need him
Even when each and everything looks grim

In his eyes you’ll never be a disgrace
As I open a new door I see the love in my Daddy’s face

This poem I dedicate to my Daddy for everything you do
For the struggles of life you’ve helped me through
