Donna's Poems
Dutch Iris

Dutch Iris

The Dutch Iris bloom outside my window today.
“What?  They aren't Orchids, you say?”

But they look so much like that other bloom
For them, my garden had to have room.

Something about their rich design,
Of paradise and beauty remind.

Our garden of simple pleasure,
Now this dainty Dutch Iris treasure.

If a friend so many years ago,
Shared with me when I didn't know,

Time would rush by, she was on her way,
Left me here with this  memory to stay.

Life is like a Dutch Iris all fragile but loyal,
Can't have an Orchid? Iris is quite as royal.

Reminds us, pray for her resurrection,
Leave to God any direction.
