Light and Shadow sets and
rests itself upon small and great.
The wonder of it reaches to our heart, allows us not to break.
The light touching the blowing horses mane,
Met by the shadow across his shoulder's plane.
Sweet light touches the blue cedar's branches high,
Supporting gray black are the dark shadows to underlie.
Across the ground reaches solid echoes of a tree's life.
Light dapples down and through its top like a wayward knife.
Suddenly, a cloud spreads its softening soul,
Protecting and blocking, for a moment, light's bowl.
Only to once again drift slowly away,
Awakened, we receive bright visions of a clear day.
If we could reach with hands, hold this light to bosom,
Touch it to heart, reflect it through eyes as a prism.
