Donna's Poems
Star Walker
by Donna Flood

Through a telescope for the first time I saw the moon
It was a warm, brightly lit night in June
There were the craters in picture I had seen,
But that was nothing like this, so sharp and so clean

There they were in all reality
Needing no story to tell of their quality.
My head, my heart, my mind was all aglow,
Who could believe, who of us could know

Now as I stand to see a distant star
I ask what else is there away so far?
Are we but just a tiny seed in this space
Planted on this earth to inhabit another place?

If that place has this earth's beauteous planes,
Copious showers for green given by rains,
Should it be where hearts are joyful with mirth
I'll love it just as I've loved this good earth

A man once wrote a poem of a tree,
Called himself "fools such as we,"
For all the days, at last, I've come to know
In those words what,  for us, he tried to show.
