Fairy Nell

by John Henderson on the 20th of February, 2015
A parody in English of WD Cocker's 1955 poem, 'Her Lauch', in Scots

Your laugh, Miss Nell, is like a bell,
That 'tinkle-tinkles', "Tee-Hee-Hee!"
Its fairy music casts a spell
On most who hear its notes of glee.

But Miss it makes me ill at ease,
And cannot meet your eyes you see;
So "Tee-Hee-Hee" less 'tinkly', please,
If e're you want my friend to be.
