Donna's Poems

The Amaryllis by Faye Heffington
 The Amaryllis by Faye Heffington

Single tree, running gears, just words from long ago,
Read by hearts wishing to sip happiness like wine,
Touching with our eyes these joys longed to know,
Though our mind accepts this world's bitter vine.

We want life like you Amaryllis of straight shoot.
You who defy  winter grey and dull
The way you rise you from only a ugly bulb moot?
For an instant, a  moment, our anger lull.

Such strength and beauty you speak
Inspire us because of the way you are,
Giving us relief from what is weak.
Exploding, brilliant, crisp as a star.
