Donna's Poems
Fall's battle lines drawn

Like kids in a mud puddle,
Our plans for winter are not subtle.

Oklahoma fall is beyond gorgeous,
And it gives us time for chores plus,

While we love the weather, flowers, trees,
There is a gentle reminder, a cool breeze.

This is when our effort to insulate in place,
Make a quick pause, on with the race.

Down with the sheer windows trappings,
Look for a heavier fabric's wrappings.

Up with light throw rugs,
Away from summer's bugs.

Pull out the heavy warm ready floors,
Kids cozy up to the winter fire and more.

Pull from drawers and spaces light gown,
Place there instead flannel, fleecy around.

No sheets so crisp and of percale.
Instead, flannel against beds, for no wail.

Paint the wall a cheery clean,
Dark days leave no sad in between.

Wherever our sword flicks a scar,
On winter, that's where we are.

Time rushes along and are we even,
Or  cold blasts  leave us grieven'?
