Donna's Poems
First Plume
by Donna Flood

Take a feather plume, my love,
Let it float over rising breezes,
Then, wonder at its will;
How softy it rises, quiet and still.

So is my heart for you,
As I feel a joyful energy,
Wrapping all around my being.
And all at once, the first time really seeing.

Horizontal vistas all blue and lavender
Right and left pulling me to their way
Relieving my tired anxiety
Setting me free

You may now step into the circle,
Daughter, with your  way paid;
Wearing a white plume in your hair,
A gift, a right to dance, forever, anywhere.
