Donna's Poems
Marigolds
by Donna Flood

The Marigold is a humble little thing,
It grows in this red clay.
There will be no breathtaking arrangement.
Really, just a border of  color, summer's day.

Usually they are only an annual,
Having to be planted again next year.
Showy and unique they are not,
Sometimes,  come back volunteer.

Maybe it is their reliability we love.
With minimum of care and tending
One is sure of their production,
Making us all feel we are winning.
