Donna's Poems
A Slap to the Earth's face

To breath the purity of this air,
To speak to the tall pines and care,
About the colors of these varieties,
Unsown seeds these many trees

Raise our eyes to what is beyond
There is more to say than just to bond.
Hold the scene like a child with outstretched arm.
Touch it with our mind, keep it from harm.

Shudder deep, deep to our bones we will,
When we heard of that great oil spill.
Spain your waters surrounds you in beauty,
Deprived now man's pleasures, and this your duty.

If we as a little above the beasts,
Sharing the bounty of earth's feasts,
Have sorrow for earth's face, that insulting slap,
Fear we might for what will cause her to snap.
