Donna's Poems
We Couldn't Go There Again

Jingle Bob Spurs and tight Levi Jeans,
Western cut shirt with flat fell seams.
Glowing undisturbed countenance
Leaning back on high heeled boots your stance,
All the gals just tryin' to catch your eye,
As you amble so slowly by,
Seems like yesterday you played with opinion
Your games of cowboys and Indian.
I watched like Puff the Magic Dragon,
While you filled and refilled your wagon.
No one told me then,
 We couldn't go there again,
That little boy and his plan
Would grow into a man.
Leaving me, his mother, to watch from afar,
As he works, struggles, fights to win his son's star.
