Fallbrook Update 40

Friends

The 'Friends of Fallbrook' are currently pursuing an updated membership list and seeking funds for the purpose of achieving the original goal of creating a memorial to the Ballinafad pioneer community by preserving the house at Fallbrook also known as the old ‘McClure/McKay Farm'. We believe we have made significant progress toward that end.

Halton Hills Heritage Committee has recommended to the council that the original house be considered for designation. Council approved the designation in their first reading but a second reading awaits more response from the community – hence this letter.

At a Friends of Fallbrook meeting on April 30th a new executive was formed, Chair ... Bill McKay, Secretary ... Mary McKay, Treasurer ... Lloyd McIntyre, Director .... Kate Murray.

A bank account has been opened and we are in the process of incorporating under the name North Halton Celtic Heritage Society. The reason for a change in name is that the original application using the name of Fallbrook was deemed too narrow in focus.

A business plan is currently being developed and we are looking forward to continuing to work cooperatively with the Town, CVC and NEC building on the joint meeting we had with these parties on April 13th at the Devereux House in Georgetown.

Members are currently involved in ongoing discussions concerning restoration plans with a ‘green’ focus.

We invite you to show support for our cause with an annual cheque for $10.00 which will designate you as a ‘supporting member’.

For those who would like to be actively involved in the organization as ‘voting members’ we would be happy to accept an annual fee of $25.00.

If you could volunteer time, a service or expertise in a particular area please let us know of your interest.

Cheques should be made out to ....
