Currently serving as Past President of the St. Andrew’s Society of Atlanta.

Appointed High Commissioner for the United States and Mexico by the Chief of Clan Shaw, John Shaw of Tordarroch, in 1995 and served in that position for five years. Also served as Chief’s Personal Lieutenant during that time period.

Past Editor of Clach na Faire (The Stone of the Watch), a newsletter for Clan Shaw.

Former Trustee and Regional Commissioner for Clan Chattan USA (the “Cat Confederation”) in charge of clan tents at Scottish Highland Games in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Writer of book reviews and interviews with authors for www.electricscotland.com in a column entitled, A Highlander and His Books, as well other articles of interest. Editor of the Robert Burns Lives! column for electricscotland.com featuring both laymen and Burns scholars from around the world. Articles have also appeared in ATAVUS, the e-journal of Burke’s Peerage, and many clan society newsletters and Highland Games programs.

Married to Susan E. Shaw, a native Atlantan, who retired in 2002 from The Coca-Cola Company as Corporate Secretary after 35 years.

Proud “Papa” (grandparent) of Ian and Stirling Shaw, ages seven and five respectively, children of Scott and Denise Shaw.

Hobbies:

Reading

Writing for electricscotland.com and formally for ATAVUS, the e-journal for Burke’s Peerage.

Speaking at various Scottish-related organizations throughout Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Collecting Scottish books that now number over 3,000 volumes, plus over 900 books on Robert Burns, as well as Burnsiana and Mauchline Ware items related Robert Burns. Also collects books on Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson, Hugh MacDiarmid, and Ernest Hemingway.

Gardening - As long as my knees and back hold out!
